Recurrent Pregnancy Loss > Cause > SCSA

There are now several tests available to assess the integrity of the DNA inside the sperm.  There is good data to support the importance of the DNA integrity to the establishment of normal pregnancies.  The Sperm Chromatin Structure Assay (SCSA) is one of the available tests to assess the DNA integrity.  Results of the SCSA are reported as a DFI (DNA Fragmentation Index).  Signifcantly elevated DFIs are associated with decreased chances of conception and increased chances of pregnancy loss should pregnancy occur.  The SCSA alows relatively easy evaluation of the male factor and its potential impact in recurrent pregnancy loss.
