Infertility Treatments > Medical > Parlodel PARLODEL AND DOSTINEXParlodel and Dostinex are medications that specifically and effectively decrease the production of prolactin from the pituitary. As noted above, prolactin levels should be checked in anyone with cycles that are anything but perfectly normal. If the prolactin level is above fifty, some radiological evaluation should be performed prior to initiating treatment to see if a pituitary microadenoma is present (these are benign tumors in the pituitary that produce prolactin). Treatment with Parlodel and Dostinex should be initiated and adjusted until the prolactin level is back in the normal range. Nausea, which is one of the more common side effects of Parlodel, can be avoided by simply placing the tablet in the vagina rather than swallowing it.
